Cho-Oyu (Mt. Qowowuyag) is the world’s sixth highest mountain. The mountain is considered as one of the easiest to climb and comparatively safe, which enables climbers with determination but not necessarily a high degree of technical expertise to reach an 8,000 m summit. The mountain was first climbed by Hebert Tichy in 1954.It became a familiar landmark to climbers ascending Everest’s North face. It is just west from Cho Oyo is Nangpa-La, the main trade route between the Nepal Namche Bazaar (Khumbu Region) and Tibet.
