Makalu trek is one of the popular, less touristy and challenging trekking trail in Nepal Himalayas. Makalu Base Camp Trekking is choice for those adventurous lover who want to explore most amazing and unseen scenery of eastern Himalayas. Utterly marvelous, still very untouched and an irregular trekking area of Makalu region is very close to the Everest region. Because of Arun River, it is known as Arun Valley too. Makalu, the world's thirth highest peak, high in the heart of the eastern Himalaya, seven valleys radiate from mount. These valleys, particularly the Barun valley, treasure some of the last remaining pristine forests and alpine meadows of Nepal. From the bottom of the Arun valley, at just 435 m above sea level, the Himalaya rise to the snow-capped tip of Makalu- 8.463 m--within a 40 km distance. Within this wide range of altitudes and climates, the Makalu-Barun area contains some of the richest and most diverse pockets of plants and animals in Nepal, elsewhere lost to spreading human habitation.

Makalu trek begin with a flight to tumlingtar in eastern Nepal. We follow a well – defined trail up the fertile Arun river valley. From the village of Nun (909m), we take the northwest trail through small settlements and begin the sustained ascent of then Barun La (4152m). On the way there are views to the east of Kanchanjunga and Jamu Himal. This trek can be taken to be extremely remote in its upper reaches. From the Hillary and Makalu base Camp (4848m), a side trip will offer excellent views of Makalu 's South face, an impressive landscape of the northeast face of Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m), Baruntse (7220m) and Chamlang (7275m). This trek is best to be undertaken between October and late November before early winter snow cuts off access to the base camp area.
