Apart from Paro and Thimpu valleys, you will visit Punakha and Wangdiphodrang. Punakha is the old capital of Bhutan and has temperate climate almost all year round. You will visit the Punakha Dzong-the winter home of monastic community. Wangdiphodrang is a large village before the central Bhutan starts. This valley provides rich pasture fields for cattle and is also famous for bamboo work and slate and stone carvings.
Detail Itinerary
Day 1 Arrival at Paro and drive to Thimpu.
Reception by Windhorse representative at the airport and drive to Thimpu. Overnight hotel.
Day 2 Sightseeing of Thimpu.
In the morning, you will visit the hospital for traditional medicine, Memorial Chorten and national Library. After lunch visit the Handicrafts centers and the School of Thangka Painting. Overnight hotel.
Day 3 Thimpu to Punakha and Wangdiphodrang.
Scenic drive on the mountain route towards Punkha-the former capital of Bhutan, passing through Dochu La (10000 ft); stunning scenery of Himalayan ranges on a clear weather day. You will visit the Punakha Dzong and descend to Wangdi valley. You can visit Wangdiphodrang Dzong, the most pictursque in Bhutan. Overnight hotel in Punakha.
Day 4 Punakha to Paro.
Retrace the scenic drive and stop in Thimpu for Lunch. You can visit the oldest Dzong of Bhutan-the Sintokha Dzong, now an institute of learning. Continue drive to Paro. Overnight hotel.
Day 5 Sightseeing of Paro
Visit the fortified tower of Ta Dzong, now a natural history Museum, ruins of Drugyal Dzong that once guarded the invading Tibetan forces, and Kyichu Temple of 7th century.
Day 6 Takstang Excursion
Today you will visit the famous Takstang monastery (Tiger's nest) which is the highlight of Paro. This is about 3 hour walk uphill and also can be done on horseback. Return down hill on foot. Overnight hotel in Paro.
Day 7 Departure
Transfer to airport .
